Competency Hearing Postponed For Woman In Standoff Near La Luz

ALAMOGORDO, N.M. — A competency hearing for a woman who was involved in a standoff with law enforcement ata home near La Luz, New Mexico, has been postponed, according to Alamogordo District Court.

The hearing was scheduled for Monday. Inga Gutierrez is being sent to get psychiatric evaluation and the court will wait to hear from the doctor before rescheduling the competency hearing.

Gutierrez was dragged out of her home Jan. 31 by a robot after a standoff with several law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Border Patrol, New Mexico State Police, and the Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office.

Gutierrez is charged with assault with intent to commit violent felony on peace officer and battery on a peace officer in magistrate court.

Gutierrez’s husband was found dead of a gunshot wound to the head in a car the day after the standoff.
