Four Ramps For I-10/Loop 375 Interchange Approved
By ABC-7 Reporter Martin BartlettEL PASO — The Texas Transportation Commission accepted TxDOT’s recommendations for stimulus project money,includingfour ofeight ramps to finish the Interstate 10/Loop 375 interchange.
The construction plan promises to dramatically improve traffic flow on the fast-growing far Eastside and create much-needed construction jobs.”Loop 375 is a major traffic carrier… this will allow for a free flow of traffic between the Interstate and… the El Paso Loop,” TxDOT’s John Berry told members of the Texas Transportation Commission.The TTCmet this morningto make its final decisions on which road projects would get federal stimulus dollars.Direct connectors will bypass the traffic lights and frontage roadsthat drivers must use to get back and forth between Interstate 10 and Loop 375.Under the federal stimulus rules, the paperwork on any project would have to be done within four months and ground would have to be broken within 16 months.–See reporter Martin Bartlett’sreal-time updates of today’smeetingvia Twitter.
