EL PASO, Texas — A man is in critical condition after the SUV he was riding in collided with another vehicle in Northeast El Paso.

Police said 24-year-old Edward Montana was a passenger in a 2002 GMC Yukon driven by 22-year-old Roberto Reyes.

Reyes drove the SUV north on US 54 about 11:45 p.m. Tuesday. Reyes exited Sun Valley and struck the barrier separating U.S. 54 from Sun Valley.

TheYukon spun back onto U.S. 54 and struck a Ford Excursion, police said.

Both Reyes and Montana were ejected from the Yukon, which caught fire at impact.

Montana was transported to Thomason Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The woman driving the Excursion was not injured, police said.

Reyes received minor injuries and fled the scene on foot. He was arrested by police after he was found hiding in a nearby residential area.
