Suspect In Murder Of Pregnant Woman In Juarez Extradited To Mexico
JUAREZ, Mexico — The U.S. government has extradited a man wanted for the 1993 murder of a pregnant woman in Juarez, Chihuahua state police said.
Thirty-nine-year-old Ramon Alire Hurtado arrived at the Juarez airport at noon Wednesday, according to ABC-7’s news partners at Channel 44.
Alire Hurtado is accused of murdering Yolanda Alvarez Equiha on May 3, 1993. Her body was found south of the Satlite neighborhood of Juarez, Chihuahua state police said. Investigators found she was pregnant at the time of her death.
Alire Hurtado was arrested Sept. 10, 2008 in El Paso and moved to San Antonio in November 2008, police said.
He was extradited Wednesday from San Antonio to Mexico City, where he was taken into custody and then transported to Juarez. He is being held at the Cereso municipal prison.
