Business Owners Frustrated By Attacks At Downtown Club
EL PASO, Texas — El Paso police said they have nabbed the two men suspected of stabbing a bouncer at a popular Downtown El Paso nightclub.
Eighteen-year-old Daniel Olivas and 21-year-old Jorge Gonzalez are facing charges for allegedly stabbing the 36-year-old bouncer after a fight.
The stabbing attack comes just one day after another man was shot at in front of the club. Now El Paso’s business elite say these latest incidents are painting a horrible picture of the Union Plaza entertainment district and something needs to change.
“This is really frustrating, and it’s frustrating from a revitalization approach,” said Mike Breitinger, the director of the Central Business Association.
Breitinger said they have had constant problems with Studio 69 from the very beginning and this weekend’s attacks are making it difficult for those trying to improve the perception of Downtown and revitalize the area.
You may recall that ABC-7 reported a few weeks ago that one of the club’s co-owners was arrested by federal authorities and charged with drug trafficking.
Calls to the other co-owner of the business were not returned for this story.
