Witnesses Of Ft. Bliss Shooting Talk To ABC-7

ABC-7 spoke with two people who witnessed Saturday afternoon’s deadly shooting at Fort Bliss, where a soldier was shot by her husband and died 45 minutes later.

The witnesses said it was a nightmare that came true.

Michelle Miller, an employee at the Army and Air Force Exchange Service PX, said she “heard two bangs” that “sounded like gunshots”.

When that happened, Michelle said her heart dropped and she instinctively went into survival mode as the crowds at the post exchange stampeded towards the exit.

Erica Crates was just outside the PX following the shooting, and said what unfolded before her eyes was horrifying.

She said “it was chaos”, adding she had “no idea why he was shooting, what he was shooting for”, calling it a frightening experience.

Fort Bliss officials said the soldier was 19 years old. Her husband, a civilian, was in the intensive care unit at Thomason Hospital as of Saturday evening.
