Man Arrested For Allegedly Robbing EP Bank Last Week

EL PASO, Texas — A man was arrested in Arizona in connection withthe robbery of an El Paso bank last week, FBI officials said.

Thirty-three-year-old Russel Deck of the 9800 block of Montana is accused of robbing the Capital Bankin the8700 block ofMontana last Friday.

He was arrested by Chandler, Arizona, police during a routine traffic stop around 1 a.m. Thursday.

Deck will be turned over to federal authorities in Arizona and transferred to El Paso in the next few weeks, FBI officials said.

Investigators said Deck allegedly walked into the Capital Bank and showed a teller a note.He then allegedlythreatened empoyees with a gun and left with an undisclosed amount of cash, investigators said Friday.

The robbery of First Federal Bank on 2290 Trawood in East El Paso on Wednesday remains unsolved. The FBI is searching for a suspect they describe as a Hispanic male in his 40s. He is about 5’5″ tall and was wearing a yellow hard hat, a blue jacket, gray shirt and jeans at the time of the robbery.
