‘Cash For Clunkers’ Program Underway

The U.S. government’s new “Cash for Clunkers” program began Friday.

In this program, the government takes in older cars and provides rebates for drivers who buy new fuel efficient vehicles.

Drivers can get up to $4,500 for their clunkers. Chrysler, Jeep, and Dodge dealers like Dick Poe are going so far as to match that – up to $9,000 for a person’s trade.

Drivers must have valid insurance and registration, which are among a number of requirements to qualify for the program.
