Slain El Paso Couple Praised By Relatives

EL PASO, Texas (AP) – A U.S. consulate worker slain alongside her husband in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, on Saturday was expecting a baby boy, her uncle-in-law says.

Mike Redelfs says consulate employee Lesley A. Enriquez was four months’ pregnant when she and husband Arthur H. Redelfs were shot in their sport utility vehicle after driving away from a child’s birthday party. Their 7-month-old daughter Rebecca was found unharmed and wailing inside their bullet-ridden SUV.

Mike Redelfs, the dead husband’s uncle, told reporters in a prepared statement Wednesday that the couple “were wonderful people and loved by many. They were a young couple just beginning their lives as a family.”

Mike Redelfs was joined by about a dozen other relatives.
