Call For Entries In New Mexico Film Showcase
New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson recently announced a call for entries for the 2010 NM Filmmakers Showcase in Albuquerque May 13-16 at the Guild Cinema.
The showcase. which is free and open to the public, is an annual event featuring a wide range of creative talent of New Mexicans from around the state. More than 70 local filmmakers had their work screened at the showcase last year.
There is no cost to enter a film. Deadline for entries is 5 p.m. April 22. Entry forms will be available at the Guild Cinema box office in Albuquerque and online at www.nmfilm.com.
?New Mexico does more than any other state to provide training, resources and promotion for local filmmakers,? Richardson said in a news release. ?The New Mexico Filmmakers Showcase is a great opportunity for New Mexican writers and directors to have their short or feature length film screened for the public. It?s always exciting to see the tremendous pool of exceptional local talent and high quality work that is submitted?and it gets better every year.?
A panel of local film professionals will critique the films in various categories, and winning films will be traveled around the state by the NM Film Office. Narrative, documentary, animated and experimental films all qualify for entry.
OPENING NIGHT: Guests will also be able to meet the filmmakers at an opening night gathering at Laru/Caf Cubano, located at 3413 Central Ave NE in Albuquerque, just down the street from the Guild. This reception will be held on Thursday, May 13th from 6:00-7:00pm, with the kickoff films beginning shortly afterwards.
