Juarez Catholic Diocese Giving Away 3 Million Rosaries

The Catholic Diocese of Juarez is using Holy Week to launch an initiative to pass out three million rosaries, according to a report by the Catholic News Service.

“We all must reflect … and pray for peace because apart from the sociological and economic conditions, there’s a situation in which sin exists,” Father Hesiquio Trevizo, diocesan spokesman, said in the Catholic News Service report. “Sin is not considered in our public and social policies, so we need for people to ask God … that our society regains a sense of sin.”

Some dioceses in Mexico are canceling Holy Week events due to ongoing violence. The Juarez diocese’s Holy Week events will go on as scheduled, although some of the hours were adjusted to coincide with daylight hours, Trevizo said.
