Vandals Shatter Car Windows At NMSU

Eleven NMSU students woke up to shattered glass and exasperation early Friday morning.

Their cars were all vandalized on-campus in the overnight hours. NMSU police say the culprit smashed windows with a baseball bat.

They have cameras in the area, but those cameras didn’t record anything. Campus police say they need more funding to update cameras in the area.

Until then, police say they will not record anything. NMSU student Perri Crowder, who’s car was vandalized, told our New Mexico Mobile Newsroom this has happened to her twice before

“First it was my back window. Then they spray-painted a line across my truck. And now they busted out my windshield,” she said.

She has this message for the culprit:

“Find something better to do with your time. If you’re frustrated at the world – go run. Go exercise. If you’re not in college – get an education. Do something.”

Anyone with information is asked to call NMSU police at (575) 646-3311

“We have security on-campus supposedly. I see them patrolling. I see them stopping students for other things,” Crowder said.

“So I’m just wondering – how come nothing’s happening with this big parking lot. And we’re in a lighted area.”
