El Paso Police Find Marijuana Growing Inside 2 Homes

Officers with the El Paso Police Dept. have made two busts in which marijuana was being grown inside homes.

El Paso Police officers went to a Northeast apartment to investigate a loud party and found a marijuana-growing operation inside the apartment.

At about 12:51 a.m. Sunday, officers arrested 19-year-old Valerie Martinez and 22-year-old Marisela Cazares, both of the 103300 block of Gateway North. Both were charged with Manufacture of Dangerous Drug and booked into the El Paso County Jail on a $10,000 bond. Cazarez was additionally charged with Purchase/Furnish Alcohol to Minor.

Police say Cazares and Martinez had a party where underage individuals were drinking alcohol.

The home grow operation was equipped with lights and boxes that contained the plants. The total weight of the marijuana was 3.7 grams.

In a separate incident at 12:55 a.m. Monday at a home in the 3400 block of Durazno, officers arrested Miguel Alvarado and Cynthia Medina for possession of marijuana over 4 ounces and under 5 pounds.

Officers allegedly found six plastic baggies of marijuana inside the residence and found two marijuana plants in the rear of the residence that were being cultivated.

The total weight of the marijuana located at the residence was 1.97 pounds. Alvarado and Medina were booked into the El Paso County Jail $7,500.
