Boxer Antonio Escalante Backs Out Of El Paso Fight Due To Injury
Antonio Escalante will not fight on May 7 in El Paso against Argentina’s Carlos Ricardo Rodriguez due to an elbow injury, according to his manager.
Escalante is dealing with an elbow injury that has been bothering him for six months. His manger, Lester Bedford, tells ABC-7 it is nerve entrapment of the elbow and tendonitis.
Surgery is not required and the El Pasoan could be back in the ring in a couple of months.
The fight, which was supposed to be televised on ESPN2, could still go on if promoters find a replacement for Escalante or the fight could be canceled altogether.
