Men Burning Trash Cause Fire In Canutillo; Off-duty Sheriff’s Deputy Helps Save 77-Year-Old From Flames

Several men burning trash are believed to have caused a fire in a mobile home park in Canutillo today, according to El Paso County Sheriff’s officials.

The West Valley Fire Dept. extinguished the fire in the 500 block of Joe Angel at around noon. Area residents were evacuated but have since been allowed back to their homes.

An off-duty El Paso County Sheriff’s deputy eating at a nearby restaurant saw the flames and saved a 77-year-old woman whosehome was near the flames.

The case will be referred to the County Attorney’s Office due to the county’s burn bans and alleged violation of the clean air act.

No injuries were reported.
