UTEP Basketball Player To Tour China With USA Team

UTEP forward Jeremy Williams is one of 11 NCAA Division I players who will tour China as part of the “Reach USA” team from May 14-31.

The team will play nine games against squads from the Chinese Basketball Association. Since its inception, the organization has visited 16 different countries on five continents.

Joining Williams on the cultural exchange trip will be Josh Harrellson and Jon Hood (Kentucky), Brandon Barnes (Lipscomb), Peyton Silva (Louisville), Malik Story (Nevada), Xavier Silas and Sean Kowal (Northern Illinois), Carlton Fay (Southern Illinois), Skylar McBee (Tennessee) and Steffphon Pettigrew (Western Kentucky).

Williams was third on the Miners in scoring last season, averaging 10.0 points per game. He also averaged 4.7 rebounds while shooting 49.3 percent from the field, 36.8 percent from three-point range and 67.1 percent from the line. Williams started the last 18 games of the season, leading the Miners to a 16-2 record. The Memphis, Tenn. native will be a senior for the 2010-11 campaign.CA
