Teen Is Run Over After Falling Off Hood Of Car

A 16-year-old female is recovering from injuries after she fell off the hood of a car and was run over.

El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies said the incident happened Wednesday night at Gallegos Memorial Park in Canutillo. The teen told deputies that three teen girls, including herself, were riding on the hood of a friend’s 1999 Chrysler Concord when she fell off and was run over by the car.

She was run over in the mid-section and upper legs area. For reasons not entirely clear, the driver of the car fled the scene prior to the deputies arrival but returned to the scene about 45 minutes later and surrendered to authorities, sheriff’s officials said.

The 16 year-old victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to University Medical Center .
