Dona Ana Co. Investigators Say Woman Punched Boyfriend, Then Her Brothers Beat Him Unconscious
A woman and her two brothers were arrested Thursday morning after a domestic incident that resulted in a man being beaten and kicked, Dona Ana County Sheriff’s officials said.
At about 2 a.m. Thursday, Don Ana County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a home in the 9500 block of Polaris in Las Cruces in reference to a domestic incident involving a woman, her boyfriend and her two brothers.
Sheriff’s investigators said Angelita Hernandez, 30, and a mother of six, was involved in a domestic incident with her 26-year-old boyfriend, when she allegedly punched her boyfriend in the nose, causing his nose to bleed and then allegedly threw a beer can towards him, nearly striking him with the beer can.
Hernandez’s brothers, 18-year-old Jaime Salazar and 20-year-old Martin Salazar, were present during the incident and were drinking alcohol with her. The two brothers allegedly rushed her boyfriend and started to punch his face after first trying to throw him through a pane glass window.
The boyfriend fell to the ground and the brotherss allegedly stomped on his head repeatedly with their shoes until he lost consciousness. The boyfriend had shoe print impressions on his face and head, according to sheriff’s officials.
He was was transported to Mountain View Hospital and then airlifted to University Medical Center in El Paso with serious head injuries.
Hernandez was charged with one misdemeanor count of battery against a household member and one misdemeanor count of assault against a household member.
Hernandez’s brothers were each charged with one third degree count of Aggravated Battery (Great Bodily Harm).
Hernandez and her two brothers are currently being detained at the Dona Ana County Detention Center.
The boyfriend is currently being treated at University Medical Center for multiple fractures to his face.
