Update: Police ID Mom Who Killed Herself On I-10, West Of Las Cruces After Asking Daughter To Kill Her

A 33-year-old woman shot and killed herself Thursday morning while driving with her daughter from California to Oklahoma, according to New Mexico State Police.

The woman and her daughter were traveling to Oklahoma to visit a family member.

New Mexico State Police Lt. Roman Jimenez said the woman, identified as Corrina Robinson-Dominguez, of California, was believed to have had a panic attack or asthma attack that caused her to freak out.

Robinson-Dominguez stopped the car in a lane of traffic on I-10 East, near mile marker 117 West of Las Cruces and asked her 9-year-old daughter to shoot her with a handgun.

The girl refused and the mother took the gun back and shot herself once in the chest, Jimenez said.

A passerby stopped by the car, saw the girl and then parked his car in front of the woman’s car to keep it from continuing to inch forward.

The passerby secured the gun and the girl told him her mom had shot herself.

Robinson-Dominguez was transported to the Office of the Medical Investigator for autopsy; those results should be available in two to three weeks.
