Memorial Set for Morehead Middle School Teacher

Family and friends will gather Wednesday morning to say goodbye to Donna Montelongo, 49, a special education teacher and cheerleading coach at Morehead Middle School.

Montelongo was on a motorcycle with her husband Jaime, 50, when they crashed last week on Mesa between Paragon and Castellano. Police have yet to determine a cause.

Jaime Montelongo remains in ICU where he was just brought out of an induced coma, says family friend Liz Plymale. He is responding to questions and moving his feet.

Playmale also says Donna Montelongo’s organs have been donated.

“Whoever gets her heart is going to get such a wonderful thing,” Plymale told ABC-7. “Even when (Donna) was sad, she was happy.”

Wednesday’s memorial is scheduled for 9 a.m. at St. Mark’s Methodist Church.

Donna Montelongo leaves behind her son Joey, 23, and her daughter Sarah, 15.

Joey has taken temporary custody of his sister.

A bank account has been set up to help the family. For those wishing to donate, the information is provided below:
