Mother Charged In Death Of 5-Year-Old Daughter

A 5-year-old girl from Anthony, New Mexico has died from injuries she allegedly suffered at the hands of her own mother.

The girl died at Providence Hospital in El Paso on Thursday. Dona Ana Sheriff’s deputies say her body was covered in bruises and puncture marks.

Her mother, 27-year-old Jessica Barron, is charged with child abuse resulting in death. Barron also is the mother of a 2-year-old who told investigators she saw her mother hit the 5-year-old with a stick.

Barron is facing life in prison.
