I-10 near Geronimo now open after crews clear debris from truck hitting barrier

I-10 near Geronimo is now open after a semi-truck struck a barrier and knocked down a road sign Monday night.

All lanes were closed in both directions along that stretch of I-10 as Texas Department of Transportation crews worked to try to make repairs.

All lanes opened up just before 6 a.m.

Reports from crews at the scene indicated the pillars holding up the sign were damaged and posed a safety hazard. The incident caused a traffic backup in the area as authorities rerouted traffic off the highway; motorists were advised to use alternate routes.

Firefighters also responded to the scene Monday night, but indicated there were no injuries.
