El Paso Sees Decrease In Murders, Other Major Crimes
El Paso continues to see a decrease of 1 percent in overall crime compared to this time last year, according to El Paso Police officials.
The crime categories with the largest decreases across the city are murders, which are down 71 percent compared to this time last year, burglary of vehicles are down 20 percent, and vehicle thefts are down 12 percent..
Significant decreases by areas of town:
West Side- Vehicle thefts are down 27 percent and burglary of vehicles are down 14 percent.
East Side- Burglary of vehicles is down 20 percent and vehicle thefts are down 17 percent.
Central- Burglary of vehicles is down 36 percent and burglary is down 17 percent.
Northeast- Burglaries are down 16 percent and various thefts are down 7 percent.
Lower Valley- Burglary of vehicles is down 19 percent and robberies are down 13 percent.
