Miner Mania At The UTEP Season Opener Tailgate

Loud cheers, hungry fans and lots of team spirit marked the UTEP Miners football season opener on Saturday.

Tailgaters gathered at the parking lots surrounding the Sun Bowl stadium as early as 9 AM.

“We’re going to win ever game!” shouted one fan wearing the team’s signature colors.

It was all about the barbeque for many Miners and their families. One man shared his unique recipe for a Miner Dog. “You just pour some beer (on a hot dog) and you’re good to go,” he said.

Others stuck to the old stand by’s: plenty of hamburgers and chicken breasts sizzled on the grills.

Several fans expressed high expectations for the new season, while others maintained their loyalty to the team no matter what.
