Crime Continues To Decrease In El Paso

El Paso continues to see a decrease of 1 percent in overall crime compared to this time last year, according to El Paso Police officials.

The crime categories with the largest decreases across the city are Murders, which are down 71 percent compared to this time last year, Burglary of Vehicle’s are down 20 percent and Vehicle Thefts are down 12 percent.

Decreases by region: -Westside of town is down 25 percent in Vehicle Thefts and 12 percent in Burglary of Vehicles. -Pebble Hills is down 20 percent in Burglary of Vehicles, 20 percent in Vehicle Thefts. -Central area has seen a 36 percent decrease in Burglary of Vehicles and 18 percent decrease in Burglary. -Northeast is down 14 percent in Burglaries, and 8 percent in Vehicle Thefts. -Lower Valley is down 22 percent in Burglary of Vehicles and 7 percent in Robberies.

Overall, every region is seeing a overall decrease across all crime categories: Central down 7 percent, Pebble Hills down 3 percent, Westside down 3 percent, Northeast down 3 percent, and Lower Valley down 1 percent.
