Sun Metro Detours 10 Routes For Chalk The Block

The City of El Paso will host the third annual Chalk the Block Public Art Festival Oct. 8-10 in Downtown El Paso. Attendees are encouraged to think and act green by riding Sun Metro to the festivities.

Standard bus fare is $1.25 per trip and children ages 6 to 18 pay only 75 cents per trip. Children 5 and under can ride for free. Riders are reminded to have exact change for the farebox. Visit www.elpasotexas.gov/sunmetro and use the Google Transit Trip Planner on Sun Metro’s website, located on the right-hand side of the page.

The festival also will require Sun Metro to detour 10 routes Thursday, Oct. 7, through Monday, Oct. 11. Sun Metro drivers will make courtesy stops along the detoured routes as required.

Routes 34, 35, 36 and 50

Buses traveling inbound, south on Mesa Street will turn right onto Missouri Avenue, left onto Oregon Street, right onto Franklin Avenue, left onto Santa Fe Street returning to the regular route.

Buses traveling outbound from the Downtown Transfer Center will exit through Fourth Avenue, turn left onto Santa Fe Street, right onto Franklin Avenue, left onto Stanton Street returning to the regular route.

Buses will service the bus stop on Franklin Avenue during the inbound and outbound trips, but will not service the bus stop at Sheldon Court (near the Camino Real Hotel) on the outbound trip.

Route 9

Buses traveling inbound, north on El Paso Street will turn left onto San Antonio Avenue, right onto Santa Fe Street returning to the regular route.

Buses traveling outbound, east on Missouri Avenue will turn left onto Santa Fe Street, right onto Wyoming Avenue, right onto Kansas Street returning to the regular route.

Routes 14 and 15

Buses traveling inbound, south on Mesa Street will turn right onto Missouri Avenue, left onto Santa Fe Street returning to the regular route.

Buses traveling outbound, north on Santa Fe Street will turn right onto Wyoming Avenue, left onto Mesa Street returning to the regular route.

Buses will service the bus stop at Sheldon Court (near the Camino Real Hotel).

Routes 33 and 59

Buses traveling outbound, north on Santa Fe Street will turn right on Wyoming Avenue and onto Interstate 10 to the regular route.

Routes 34, 35, 36 and 50

Buses traveling inbound, south on Mesa Street will turn right onto Missouri Avenue, left onto Santa Fe Street and into the Downtown Transfer Center. Inbound buses will service the bus stop at the intersection of Santa Fe Street and Franklin Avenue near City Hall.

Buses traveling outbound from the Downtown Transfer Center will exit though Fourth Avenue, turn left onto Santa Fe Street, right onto Wyoming Avenue, left onto Stanton Street returning to the regular route. Outbound buses will service the bus stop at Sheldon Court.

SMART 101

Buses traveling inbound, south on Mesa Street will turn right on Missouri Avenue, left onto Santa Fe Street returning to the regular route.

Buses traveling outbound, west on Fourth Avenue will turn right onto Santa Fe Street, right onto Wyoming Avenue, left onto Mesa Street returning to the regular route.
