Updated UTEP Tailgating Rules

Changes to UTEP Tailgating Rules – Announced Sept. 22, 2010.

In an effort to help our guests enjoy the football tailgating festivities at The University of Texas at El Paso, please be advised of the changes to the tailgating rules, effective immediately.

Changes:

?Inner Campus will open for tailgating at 2 p.m. (instead of noon) on game day, until the end of the first quarter. The change is an effort to accommodate classes and official University business that is conducted on Saturdays. ?Tailgating in the outer lots of campus will remain unchanged. Cars can park as early as 8 a.m. on game day. ?Generators of any kind on University property are prohibited, except in the RV lot on Schuster Avenue. ?DJ?s or amplified sound systems are not permitted on University property. ?Radio station remotes and media vans must be cleared by the Office of Special Events prior to game day.

The UTEP Miners will take on the Memphis Tigers at 7:05 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at the Sun Bowl Stadium.

UTEP?s tailgate policies, including parking rules, shuttle services and ways to keep the campus clean can be reviewed at www.tailgating.utep.edu.

Tailgating is a wonderful Texas tradition and the University welcomes and appreciates the support of the Miner Nation at our football games. In the spirit of Miner Pride, the University requests that all guests tailgate responsibly by helping us maintain a family friendly atmosphere and by taking care of our beautiful campus , ensuring that all trash and charcoal generated is disposed of in the trash receptacles provided.

Game day parking will be available in the UTEP parking garage for $10 per game or $50 for the six-game home season. Parking passes may be purchased at the UTEP Ticket Center (915-747-5234).

Tailgating Regulations:

?GLASS CONTAINERS ARE PROHIBITED in the Sun Bowl parking garage, Inner Campus and Perimeter parking lots and on University property on game days. ?Tailgating is prohibited anywhere in the parking garage for safety reasons. ?Alcoholic drinking games, funneling or other activities deemed inappropriate by the University are prohibited. ?Kegs, beer bongs and other common-source containers are prohibited on campus and in tailgating areas. ?Tailgaters must shut down their activities and enter the Sun Bowl by the end of the first quarter. One person will be allowed to stay at each tailgating site if there is a large setup. ?Tailgating activities must conclude one hour after the game.

Prohibited items

For the safety and comfort of the audience, the following items are prohibited in the venue:

?Glass containers ?Alcohol ?Coolers and ice chests ?Laser pens/pointers ?Fireworks ?Food and beverages ?Pets (except for service animals) ?Missile-like objects ?Signs and banners that impede visibility of other patrons ?Strollers ?Video and audio recording devices ?Umbrellas ?Weapons ?Wallet Chains ?Air Horns ?Whistles ?Balloons

Allowed items

?Sealed bottled water (plastic only) ?Stadium seats 18 inches or smaller ?Blankets ?Baby food (in plastic containers only) ?Rain ponchos ?Service animals

Parking Regulations:

?Illegally parked vehicles may be towed at owner?s expense. ?Only one vehicle per space and only one space per vehicle will be permitted. ?Reserving parking spaces are prohibited; spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis. ?Parking spaces may not be used as tailgate setup areas. ?No tailgating in fire lanes. ?RV’s, Campers, and trailers will NOT be allowed to have another vehicle parked in the same area. ?RV Parking (Lot P-4) will open at 6 p.m. the day before each game, and will close on Sunday at 10 a.m. RV’s will be allowed to stay overnight, but are asked to close down all post-game activities one hour after the game has concluded. ?Public parking is available at the Sunbowl Parking Garage for $10 per vehicle on a space-available basis. ?A parking fee of $20 per game or $100 for the season will be assessed for each RV and/or camper/trailer type vehicle.
