Teen Dragged By Truck In Critical Condition
Dona Ana County sheriff’s investigators said a teen is in critical condition after she was dragged by a truck in Las Cruces.
It happened at about 4 a.m. Sunday in the 5200 block of Comanche Trail.
According to authorities several fights broke out among partygoers in that area. One of the partygoers who was in a fight reportedly tried to leave the area by jumping into his truck and driving away.
Sheriff’s officials said in his haste to get away, the driver of the truck ran over a 17-year-old girl and dragged her about 150 feet while she was pinned under the vehicle.
Investigators said the driver of the truck kept going and didn’t stop because he feared for his life, already having been severely beaten.
The driver and truck were later found by officers with the Las Cruces Police Department.
The victim was airlifted to University Medical Center in El Paso and is listed in critical, but stable condition, said sheriff’s officials.
The investigation is ongoing.
