2 Men Arrested In Alleged Rapes Of Teenage Babysitters In Dona Ana County

The Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office have arrested two men in the alleged rapes of two babysitters at a mobile home community east of Las Cruces.

Inside the Statement of Facts are details from 13 and 14-years-old females who were allegedly raped by two men who hired them to babysit.

Neighbors were hesitant to speak out in fear of retaliation, but said the allegations are shocking.

“In my opinion, those guys are sick in the head,” Isaac Marquez, who lives in the area, said about his neighbors..

William Kammerer, 37, and Randy Stevens, 31, are each charged with raping the young girls they hired to babysit Stevens? 3-year-old daughter inside his mobile home.

“As a parent it makes me feel disgusted, kinda don?t want to believe it,” Marquez said.

According to the Statement of Facts, the mother of one of the girls became suspicious when she found text messages with an ?underlying tone? exchanged between her daughter and Stevens.

“I don?t think those guys are in their right mind,? Marquez said. ?Personally I knew them both, and I wish I didn’t know them.”

Concerned neighbors said Stevens and Kammerer are the maintenance workers for the mobile home community, and have been in all of their homes, around their children, countless times. In an e-mail, a man who identified himself as mobile park owner Jerry Scoggin stated only Mr. Kammerer was employed as a maintenance worker.

Neighbors were in disbelief.

“I was shocked because these are people that we live with, these are men that come into our houses and do maintenance on our houses whenever something goes wrong,” a neighbor, who asked not to be identified, said.

The landlord said he has never had a problem with Stevens or Kammerer.

“We try to provide a good, quiet, safe place for people to raise their family,? he said.

But residents said they do not feel the least bit at ease in their community.

“I felt pretty disgusted knowing that they were my neighbors, knowing I drank a beer with them, shared laughs with them,? Marquez said. ?Its just disrespect to everyone in this park.”

Kammerer bonded out of jail. Stevens is being held at the Dona Ana County Detention Center on $20,000.
