NMSU Investigating Death On Campus
The New Mexico State University Police Department is investigating the death of a person in student family housing on the Las Cruces campus.
At this time, there are no obvious indications of foul play, but the case is being handled as a possible crime until proven otherwise.
At 5:33 pm on October 25, 2010, NMSU Housing officials and an NMSU police officer conducted a welfare check at an apartment in student family housing. The officer entered the unit and discovered the body of an individual inside one of the bedrooms. The body has been turned over to the Office of the Medical Investigator for positive identification and autopsy. The name of the decedent is being withheld until positive identification is made and next-of-kin notified.
The investigation continues at this time. No further information is expected to be released until the autopsy results are received.
