Police ID 7-Year-Old Killed In Saturday Collision

El Paso Police have identified 7-year-old Nathan Dove as the victim in Saturday’s fatal traffic collision that occurred in the 5600 block of Doniphan.

At about 12:24 p.m. Saturday, a 2005 Jeep was northbound on Doniphan at the same time a 2002 Dodge Neon was southbound on Doniphan.

The Neon attempted a left turn into a private lot, entering the path of the Jeep, colliding with the Jeep. Sean Dove, 24, and Nathan Dove, both passengers in the Neon, were transported to University Medical Center with serious injuries.

All other occupants and driver of the Jeep were transported to area hospitals.

This is the 61st traffic fatality of 2010 as compared to 65 at this same time last year.

This is the first minor involved in a fatal collision for 2010 as compared to two in 2009 during this time period. Speed and alcohol are not considered factors in this collision.

Failure to yield the right of way while making a left turn is a factor in this collision on the part of the Neon, according to police officials.
