Disturbance At Whataburger Leads To DWI And Cocaine Arrest

The El Paso Police Department has charged a man with DWI and possession of a controlled substance.

Officers responded to disturbance call at the Whataburger at 12140 Montwood in far east El Paso at 2:21 a.m. Wednesday.

Officers found Ivan Rodriguez, 26, to be the source of the disturbance and fled in a red pickup truck as officers arrived on the scene. Rodriguez was stopped moments later and officers found him intoxicated and arrested him for driving while intoxicated.

Officers also found a clear plastic baggie containing 0.2 grams of cocaine in Rodriguez’s front shirt pocket.

Rodriguez was booked into the El Paso County Jail for the DWI charge and on a charge of possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram with a $2,471.90 bond.
