Tight US House races in California as GOP maintains control over the chamber

AP Political Writer

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Republicans and Democrats are clawing for crucial U.S. House victories in California even as the GOP has now clinched control of the chamber. In a rematch from 2022, Rep. Ken Calvert defeated rival Democrat Will Rollins in a district east of Los Angeles. Calvert is the longest-serving Republican in the state’s congressional delegation. Southern California Democrat Dave Min defeated Republican Scott Baugh in the coastal 47th District. The seat is being vacated by Democratic Rep. Katie Porter, who mounted an unsuccessful bid for U.S. Senate.
