Man Hit, Killed While Crossing Street

A man is dead after he was hit by two vehicles in far east El Paso Sunday night.

Investigators said the man was crossing the street when he was hit by a Ford F150 driven by an off-duty police officer, who stayed on the scene.

Police said the man was then run over by a dark-colored Honda, who took off.

El Paso police officials said he died on the scene near the intersection of Zaragoza Road and Charles Schulte Drive.

The intersection remained closed to traffic for several hours while the Police Department’s special traffic investigatios pieced together what happened.

Officials are looking for the driver of the Honda to hear that driver’s side about what happened.

The victim’s name has not been released.

According to authorities, that area is very dark at night. They said there is a crosswalk near where the man was found, but they’re still investigating whether he used it.
