Arrest Made In Sunday Night Stabbing

The El Paso Police Dept. has arrested one man in relation to a Sunday evening Aggravated Assault.

According to police, Jorge Torres, 51, of the 2000 block of Magoffin, and a 36-year old man had engaged in a verbal argument inside the Alameda Bar at 9:52 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 15, 2011.

Torres and the man were asked to leave the establishment and upon exiting the bar, the argument continued. Torres allegedly produced a knife and stabbed the victim in the abdomen three times.

Police arrived at the scene moments later and took Torres into custody. The victim was transported to University Medical Center where he underwent surgery.

Torres has been charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and his bond was set at $100,000.

He was booked into the El Paso County Jail.
