Rolling Blackouts Resume Friday Morning

El Paso Electric started its third day of rolling blackouts with them resuming at 6:30 a.m. Friday.

El Paso Electric, which lost local power at its two power plants, is operating on power from out of town. El Paso Electric is asking customers to please be patient during these outages. If the outage lasts longer than one hour, then customers should contact El Paso Electric’s power outage lines (TX 915.877.3400, NM 575.523.7591). Once this series of rolling outages is completed, El Paso Electric’s automated system will contact those who called to verify if the customer’s outage is still ongoing.

Service crews will be dispatched to existing outages.

El Paso Electric continues to urge customers to curtail the use of electricity through today.

Due to the extreme weather conditions over the past several days, El Paso Electric has not been able to restore a significant amount of its local power generation.

El Paso Electric continues to operate under a curtailment plan and we are asking all customers, business and residential, to immediately reduce as much electrical usage as they can.

El Paso Electric is asking businesses to curtail their usage except in situations of critical needs.

El Paso Electric is also asking customers to curtail usage in their homes. Do not use appliances such as the washing machine, dishwasher, or electric clothes dryer Turn off extra lights, electric water heater and other electric appliances that you do not absolutely need. Minimize the use of your electric range or oven when preparing meals.
