El Paso Woman With Child In Car Arrested, Charged With Felony DWI

El Paso Police have arrested a woman for allegedly driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle, which an officer observed traveling south on the 600 block of South Kansas at 9:59 p.m. Monday.

The vehicle had a defective tail light that led the officer to conduct a traffic stop. Police said the officer observed that the driver, 22-year-old Mayra Quintanar, of the 400 block of Magrum, appeared to be intoxicated.

Police officials said further investigation showed that there were two passengers inside the vehicle, one being 4 years of age. The officer conducted a criminal investigation against Quintanar for felony DWI that led the officer to believe she was in fact operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated with a minor child inside of the vehicle, police said.

Quintanar was arrested and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on a charge of Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Under 15 Years of Age (Felony). Her bond was set at $1500.00.
