Officials: Avoid Southbound Lanes Of Bridge Of The Americas

Customs and Border Protection spokesman Ruben Jauregui is asking the public to avoid the south bound lanes of the Bridge of the Americas. Agents manning a southbound traffic checkpoint around 1:30 this morning had to deploy newly installed metal barricades to prevent a motorist from evading their checkpoint.

Thanks to the barricades the suspect was apprehended, an investigation is currently ongoing and has narrowed the number of lanes down to only one. Motorists are being asked to use other southbound ports of entry to avoid the traffic snarl.
