Woman, 2 Young Children Rescued After Being Stranded In Franklin Mountains
A woman and her two children stranded in the Franklin Mountains have been found and are in the process of being rescued as of Sunday night.
Emergency crews said an El Paso County sheriff’s deputy first made contact with the three and guided the fire department’s rescue team to their location.
El Paso fire officials said they were dispatched to the area near the summit of Transmountain at about 7:15 p.m.
At about 8:15 p.m. officials said the rescue team, comprised of 10 people, was in the process of bringing the woman and the children down.
A spokesman said crews have equipped the 35-year-old woman, her 8-year-old son and 5-year-old girl with safety gear because the route they’re descending is treacherous.
No injuries have been reported.
