Police Release Photo Of El Paso City Food Inspector Accused Of Bribery
El Paso Police have released the mug shot of the city food and safety inspector arrested last week and charged with gift to public servant by person subject to his jurisdiction.
Carlos Padilla, 49, is accused of asking for $500 from a business owner.
According to El Paso Police, Padilla met with a business owner April 21 and allegedly asked for $500 from the business owner in exchange for promising to the owner his business would pass inspection. The business is located in the 3200 block of Piedras.
Police said Friday they did not release Padilla’s photograph at the time of his arrest because of the ongoing investigation.
Padilla, who makes $31,916 a year, has been employed in and for the Department of Public Health for eight years.
Gift to public servant by person subject to his jurisdiction is a Class A Misdemeanor.
