Investigators with the Socorro Police Department said the driver accused in the hit-and-run that claimed the life a Socorro teenager on May 10 turned himself in on Monday

Richard Monroy Jr., 25, accompanied by his attorney, surrendered to Socorro Police Officers just after 3 p.m. Monday at the Socorro PD Rio Vista Sub-Station, 800 N. Rio Vista Road Socorro. He has officially been charged with accident causing injury or death.

It was last Tuesday night when Monroy allegedly struck 13-year-old Brian Hernandez on Buena Vista and North Loop in Socorro.
