Olsson Finishes 24th at NCAA Track and Field Championships

DES MOINES, Iowa ? Freshman thrower Richard Olsson finished 24th in the men?s javelin competition on Wednesday afternoon at the 2011 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Drake Stadium.

Olsson?s first throw of 64.67m (212-2) was his day?s best, but it wasn?t enough to advance him to the final round of the event. The Karlstad, Sweden, native was the only freshman in the competition.

The men?s 4x100m relay made up of Suji Adeniyan, Anderson Mutegi, Leon Dillihunt and Anthony Wright clocked in a time of 40.37 finishing seventh in the first of three heats. The time ranked 19th of 24 relay squads.

Two-time All-American Dimitrios Fylladitakis will put on the UTEP uniform one last time tomorrow when he competes in the men?s hammer throw at 2 p.m. (MT). Adeniyan, Mutegi, Dillihunt and Curtis Kock will take the track at 7:20 p.m. in the semifinal round of the men?s 4x400m relay looking to advance to Saturday?s final.
