Final Election Results: Incumbent Wins Reelection; Doctor Heads To Council

She weathered a brutal runoff campaign by avoiding public forums and interviews. And she won.

Representative Ann Morgan Lilly gets to keep her city council seat after she attracted 55 percent of the vote against challenger Lyda Ness-Garcia.

The race was mired by personal attacks, yet it attracted a slightly higher turnout — 7 percent — than the race for District 5, with 5 percent of eligible voters casting a ballot.

In District 5, Dr. Michiel Noe showed a 60 percent lead over his opponent, Mayela Mejia, since the early votes were counted, and he maintained it throughout the night.

Noe will replace Rep. Rachel Quintana, who chose not to run for re-election.

These are the unofficial final results:

DISTRICT 1 – 3,527 ballots cast out of 47,706 eligible voters / 14 undervotes

Ann Morgan Lilly – 1,946 votes

Lyda Ness-Garcia – 1,567 votes

DISTRICT 5 – 2,174 ballots cast out of 46,640 eligible voters / 5 undervotes

Mike Noe – 1,303 votes

Mayela Mejia – 866 votes
