EPPD: Man Stabs Woman With Screwdriver, Assaults Elderly Man
El Paso Police arrested a central El Paso man after investigators said a domestic dispute turned physical Thursday afternoon.
According to officers, Luis Andres Anchondo, 39, got into an argument with his common law wife, Brissa Salas, around 1:15 at a home in the 1600 block of N. Ochoa street.
The argument escalated, according to investigators, and resulted in Anchondo stabbing Salas with a screwdriver several times, causing her lungs to collapse.
Police said when Salas screamed for help, Genaro Salas, 75, tried to assist but was knocked to the ground by Anchondo and “struck by a table leg.”
Anchondo then began to destroy evidence of the assault, according to investigators.
Central Patrol officers were able to take him into custody and transport him to University Medical Center along with Salas.
Police said Anchondo is charged with Aggravated Assault, Injury to an Elderly Individual and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
He was booked on bonds totaling $155,000.00.
