Man Arrested for Sexual Relationship with Teenage Girl

A 27-year-old Las Cruces man has been charged for having a sexual relationship with a teenage girl.

Mathew G. Sanchez is charged with three second-degree felony counts of criminal sexual penetration of a child.

On Monday, Aug. 8, the 13-year-old girl’s mother told Las Cruces Police that she had reason to believe that her daughter was engaged in an inappropriate relationship with Sanchez, who is related to one of the victim’s parents. Detectives interviewed several people, including Sanchez and the victim, and discovered that the two did have a sexual relationship.

Sanchez was arrested early Tuesday morning and is being held at the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $75,000.
