El Pasoan sentenced for running migrant smuggling organization

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- 28-year-old El Pasoan Mark Anthony Holguin received a 57 month sentence in federal court for conspiracy to transport migrants.

Federal prosecutors say Holguin "supervised" a smuggling organization from April 2021 to November 2023.

Prosecutors with U.S. Attorney Jaime Esparza's office says that Holguin helped get migrants from Mexico into El Paso and Santa Teresa.

Federal officials do not release mugshots. Officials did not release any other information on this case.
