Authorities: Ex-Girlfriend Lures Man To Site Of Beating, Carjacking

A man who was called to a home by his ex-girlfriend was assaulted by several people and had his car stolen, authorities said.

El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a home on the 1200 block of Westway Boulevard about 10:45 p.m., where the man parked his vehicle to speak to his ex-girlfriend. That’s when deputies said three people assaulted him while he was inside his car, a dark 1999 dark blue Nissan Sentra.

Deputies said the ex-girlfriend, Sonia Reza, and Oscar Tarango got into the Sentra an drove away, while the other attackers left in a black 1999 Honda Accord. A deputy said he spotted the two vehicles speeding on De Alva Drive and stopped the Sentra at the intersection of Nashua Road and North Desert Boulevard.

The Accord stopped on the 7900 block of North Desert, where deputies said the occupants got out of the car and fled on foot. Deputies conducted a sweep of the area but were unable to find them. Both vehicles were impounded.

Reza, who was driving the Sentra, and Tarango, both from Canutillo, Texas, were identified by the victim, deputies said. Both were arrested on suspicion of aggravated robbery.

An investigation continues by the Sheriff’s Office Crimes Against Persons unit continues.
