StormTRACK Weather First Alert

The ABC-7 StormTRACK Weather Team continues with the FIRST ALERT that was issued Wednesday by Chief Meteorologist “Doppler” Dave Speelman.

The storms developed in the early afternoon hours as a cold front from the east pushed through the Borderland. This front, combined with strong southwesterly winds in the upper levels of the atmosphere, will be the fuel needed to produce severe storms later tonight.

The areas of concern are areas from El Paso/Las Cruces and the eastern portion of the viewing area, including Otero and Hudspeth counties.

These storms may produce winds in excess of 60 mph, golfball-size hail, and flash flooding with rainfall rates of up to an inch per hour.
