NWS: Severe Thunderstorm Warning for El Paso, Doa Ana, Otero, Hudspeth Co.

The National Weather Service in El Paso has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for El Paso, southeastern Dona Ana, southwestern Otero and northwestern Hudspeth counties until 8:30 p.m.

At 7:03 p.m., National Weather Service meteorologists detected a severe thunderstorms capable of producing golf ball size hail and destructive winds in excess of 70 mph.

Locations impacted include: -The entire city of El Paso -Sunland Park -Mcgregor range base -Orogrande -Chaparral -Anthony -Horizon City -Santa Teresa -Soledad Canyon -Dripping Springs

Doppler radar indicates weak rotation within this storm. Although not immediately likely, if a tornado is spotted, move to a place of safety inside a sturdy structure such as a basement or small interior room.

If you are in the path of this storm, prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside should move to a shelter, preferably inside a strong building and away from windows.
