Broad Foundation Awards YISD With $150K For Scholarships

The Ysleta Independent School District was awarded $150,000 for college scholarships for its high school seniors.

this is the second straight year y-i-s-d is a finalist in the broad prize. hundreds of teachers packed y-i-s-d’s central office earlier this morning during the watch party. north carolina’s charlotte-mecklenburg school district took home the $550-thousand-dollar first prize. even though they didn’t win the top prize, y-i-s-d educators were happy about today’s results.:

the broad prize awards are given to school districts that show the highest gains in student performance and in closing the minority achievement gap.//
